Getting Botox with CBD in Your System

Each year, more than a million Americans have a Botox treatment. This number has grown massively in the last decade, as Botox has become more widely accepted and proven to be safe and has also proven to offer significant results.

However, just because Botox is considered to be safe, does that mean that it’s safe to undergo a procedure if you have CBD in your system? CBD is the leading cannabinoid in the hemp plant and is used for the various regulatory effects it offers to the body via the endocannabinoid system. It’s widely considered safe since cannabinoids are nontoxic to the body and are in fact produced by the body and stored in an efficient manner. But what happens when you combine the two?

Botox: The Basics

Botox has become so incredibly popular in recent years that many people happily get a treatment without even knowing exactly what’s being injected into their face. Botox is short for botulinum toxin. We know that the full name sounds alarming, but allow us to explain.

In high doses, Botox is a toxic substance responsible for botulism, a fairly common bacterial disease. Now, it’s important to know that the Botox used in traditional treatments is injected in such a low dosage level that it does not cause a toxic or dangerous reaction in the body. What it does do, however, is paralyze the area into which it was injected. This paralysis lasts for about three to four months, after which another treatment is required if the results are to be maintained.

Botox is most known for its use in cosmetic applications. Paralyzing the muscles of the face and body allow the area to firm up, which instantly decreases the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as well as sagging skin. Therefore, Botox is currently the most popular anti-aging cosmetic treatment on the market today.

But that’s not all that Botox is used for. It’s currently being used as a hyperhidrosis treatment. Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the sweat glands produce an excessive amount of sweat. Paralyzing the glands stops them from perspiring.

Botox is also immensely popular as a migraine treatment. Paralyzing the area of the head affected by migraines essentially numbs the pain and allows a person to improve their quality of life. As time goes on, Botox will almost definitely be found to be effective at treating a wide range of health-related issues.

Is There an Interaction Between CBD and Botox?

So, is there an interaction between CBD and Botox? Not that we know of. CBD has been widely studied for its effects on the body, and as of now, absolutely nothing points to a risk involved when getting Botox treatments while CBD is in the system. CBD is nontoxic to the human body, and the dose of Botox injected during a standard procedure does not result in toxicity.

It’s also worth pointing out that both CBD and Botox have been popular for about a decade now. This means that we would have likely heard about incidents involving a negative interaction.

Keep in mind that hemp in general seems to be fine to use along with Botox. There are no compounds in the hemp plant that are known to negatively interact with the ingredients in

Botox. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re taking a full spectrum, broad spectrum or CBD isolate product.

Of course, if you are concerned, you can always speak to your doctor, who can give you advice regarding using CBD along with getting a Botox treatment.

What Happens When You Take Cannabidiol Prior to a Botox Treatment?

In fact, there are plenty of people who choose to use CBD before undergoing a Botox procedure. Botox treatments involve the use of a needle that is injected into the skin, and there are many people who are phobic about needless. Because of CBD’s calming properties, it may help a person have a more pleasant experience overall.

And, even though Botox procedures are not known to be painful, some people are naturally more sensitive to the feeling of a needle going into the skin. Therefore, it’s not uncommon for a person to use topical CBD on the area of injection prior to a visit, as CBD has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Overall, the good news is that there is no reason to worry that using CBD prior to a Botox treatment will lead to ill effects. If you are still worried, we encourage you to once gain, have a conversation with your doctor and fill them in on your medical history and medications that you are presently taking.
